Quick update from the garage workshop: After all the great feedback and lessons from our previous 25+ projects, we're thrilled to announce that our next project — the ONAMI Titanium Utility Knife — is officially launching on Kickstarter this Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 at 8:00 AM PST!

We've been heads-down refining this one to hit that perfect sweet spot: a full-sized, no-compromises utility knife that's robust and durable enough for demanding professional trades (construction, roofing, electrical, warehousing — you name it) while staying comfortable and practical for everyday DIYers, home repairs, kitchen tasks, package opening, and quick fixes.

p.s. I initially mentioned in a previous update that this was going to be a "spring-assisted" knife but realized that isn't allowed on Kickstarter even though its a utility knife. We apologize for this mistake. ONAMI is now a button-lock knife which is still fun and fidgety when opening and closing the blade.

Hey Backers,

HIKARI HAS ARRIVED!

We’re thrilled to share that our inventory has arrived, and we’re currently conducting a quick inventory check to ensure everything is in order. Once that’s complete, we’ll dive straight into the reward fulfillment phase of the campaign.

You should have received an email from BackerKit yesterday, asking you to make any final changes to your shipping address. If you haven’t checked it yet, please do so before we lock down addresses tomorrow and start printing the first batch of shipping labels. We’re prioritizing our Priority Mail Upgrade backers first, so those rewards will be the first to ship out.

We’re also excited to announce that we’re planning a quick photoshoot of the flashlight today, and we’ll share the photos with you later this week.

Battery Supplier Change

We briefly talked about this a few backer updates ago but wanted to mention it again. When you receive your flashlight, twist open the body tube, remove the battery safety tab (its a small circle of cardboard that blocks the battery from the spring terminal), and recharge the battery for a few hours before using it. You will also notice that we are no longer using XTAR branded batteries for this particular flashlight. We went with an 1100mAh battery from Manker who is another trusted partner of ours. Both companies make quality batteries. The USB-C port is built right onto the battery itself for easy charging via cable however, you can still use an independent lithium-ion battery charger such as the XTAR ones we carry on our website:
